Commonly referred to as the powerhouses or energy factories of the cell<\/strong>, mitochondria produce about ninety percent of the energy our cells need to survive. The mitochondria in the liver are central to the chemical alterations that occur in the liver, where nutrients such as lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates are processed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Ongoing research in this field shows that there is a connection between psychological stress and mitochondrial activity.
